The HamFest is right around the corner!!!

HAMFEST 2008 IS ABOUT TO HAPPEN!!  Saturday July 19th, at the Johnson County Mo. Fair Grounds.  Folks will be wheeling and dealing in AIRCONDITIONED COMFORT!!  Vendors come to our Fest from all over. Last year vendors came from as far as Minnesota.   The Red Cross will be taking care your hunger pains with the great breakfast buffet they put on every year.  The proceeds that the Red Cross make go right back to the community to help out our neighbors who have lost everything due to fires or other disasters.

The planning for the upcoming HamFest is going well.  Now if you are sitting there wanting to help but figure because no one has contacted you personally everything is under control and you are not needed well.  .  .  .  .    Think again.  We need help with ticket sales, setup/teardown, manning the call-in giving directions, even just supervising (not too many supervising jobs left) Final plans will be made at the upcoming WAARCI Club meeting on 14 June, hope to see you there.  If you can't make it to the meeting and want to help drop me a line at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it or call me at 660-422-7273 and leave a message.  Just plain show up times to help would be at 1900 (7:00PM) the evening before the Fest at the Fairgrounds to help set up.  Door holder and direction supervisor positions are available for the set up and teardown.   Then at 0600 (6:00 AM)  This year I would like to find a few Young Strong Folks to work the entry way to help vendors and buyers find their way to the building from hwy 50.  So there is plenty to do and no one will be extra so just jump in there.

Some of the cool things that are going to happen: There will be a forum on how repeater duplexers work and how you can put some together yourself.   Larry and the TEAM will be there to offer licensing testing and upgrades.  The US ARMY is driving up from

Ft. Leonardwood with their new high Tec communication vehicle.  Also the Red Cross is coming in with their communications vehicle. Have you ever seen a 5KW generator tucked under the hood of a standard vehicle?  You will if you check out the Red Cross communication van.  BOTTOM LINE>>>>  We are looking forward to a real good time and the chance to visit with lots of good friends that we may not have seen for a while.

HOPE to see you there

REGARDS
