WAARCI Tower Ordinance
Date: February 16, 2009
The WAARCI Tower Ordinance Committee continues to work with the City Of
Warrensburg to develop an ordinance to meet both the community amateur radio
service's and the city's needs. Rick, KB0VZP, Keith, N0VJ and Keith, WE0G
met with Barbara Carroll, Warrensburg City Planner, Friday, Feb. 6 at 2:30
p.m. at City Hall.
This draft ordinance will be going before the City Planning and Zoning
Committee in early March. The date, location and time will be posted under
Events in our forum.
When an ordinance is passed by the City, after one year we (city/amateur
community) will have the opportunity to review how the ordinance is working
and make recommendations for changes at that time.
The following was sent to Ms. Carroll via e-mail on Friday, Feb. 13 in
response to discussion at the meeting about exempting wire antennas. Ms.
Carroll indicated the city would consider adding such an exemption as long
as the antennas are not attached to the tower. She asked us (the tower
committee) to submit the recommended exemption for review.
Exemption: Wire antennas, not larger than 4 NWG (0.20431 inches), such as
dipoles, inverted Vs and long wire antennas, are exempted under the
following conditions.
1. The antenna must not be supported, attached or anchored to a mast or
tower and;
2. The antenna must be installed at least (not less than) 10 feet above the
ground.
The next draft will be posted on WAARCI's website for review prior to the
Planning and Zoning Committee meeting.
It will be important to have a good turnout of red jackets at the Planning
and Zoning Committee meeting in March.
If you have any questions about the Warrensburg City Tower Ordinance,
especially once the draft is reviewed please address them to Keith, N0VJ,
Tyler, KC0LCX, Rick, KB0VZP or myself Keith, WE0G.
WAARCI 2008 Christmas Party
Date: December 6, 2008
The date is December 6th and the location is the
ABC Building in Grover Park, Warresnburg, MO. The
committee is working on the remainder of the plans and
would welcome input from the members.
Being considered is perhaps to have the dinner
catered with a charge for each person attending. The most
recent gatherings have been a carry-in type dinner with the
club paying for the meat dishes. If you have ideas on who
you would like to do the catering, contact one of the
committee members, Gail Haye, Gloria Michalski, or Sheri
Sisco.
They would also be interested in any idea you
might have for entertainment for the evening, such as music,
games, ways to handle the gift exchange, etc.
We like to remember ones that may not be able to
enjoy the holidays because of hardships. In the past we have
donated to the Angel Tree programs. Does anyone have
additional information.
